Mark your calendars!

You are invited to participate in the Northwest Territories (NWT)-wide Community-Based Water Quality Monitoring (CBM) Program Training Workshop at the B-Dene Camp in Dettah on May 28-29, 2024.

The NWT-wide CBM program was created to address community concerns about water quality and ecosystem health that were heard during the development of the NWT Water Stewardship Strategy. Community-based monitoring is an important way for NWT residents to be involved in water stewardship activities and is a key goal of the NWT Water Stewardship Strategy.

The workshop will bring together partners from across the NWT to exchange and enhance knowledge, build partnerships and continue to nurture collaboration in the CBM program. Transportation will be provided between Yellowknife and Dettah on both days of the workshop.

Interactive sessions will include various topics such as monitoring methods for sampling water, a summary of the 10-year CBM Report, data sharing and literacy with representatives from Mackenzie DataStream, water and field safety, and much more!  The workshop will also provide opportunities to exchange information with community monitors, elders, youth, and GNWT staff.

Do you have specific topics you’d like to learn about, or are you interested in hosting an interactive session at this workshop? Please let us know and we will reach out to discuss!

If you, or your organization, are interested in attending the workshop, please RSVP by March 29, 2024. An agenda and registration information will be sent to you once you indicate your interest. There will be funding available to support up to two participants from your organization to travel to the event. This funding is limited, so please respond as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you!
