2022 Workshop Information
Please join us at the upcoming 13th Annual Water Stewardship Implementation Workshop and the 2nd Annual NWT Climate Change Advisory Gathering, October 25 – 27th, 2022, at the Chief Drygeese Centre in Dettah!
This a collaborative event hosted by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Water Monitoring and Stewardship Division and the Climate Change and Air Quality Division.
This year’s theme for the two conferences “Adapting to Change and Building a Resilient Northwest Territories”, recognizes the challenges the NWT has faced over the last years in having to respond to disruptive changes occurring on the land, water, and in our communities. These workshops will enable collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst Water and Climate Change Partners in order to work together to adapt to these changes and build collective resilience.
Key objectives include:
- Sharing progress on the implementation of the NWT Water Stewardship Strategy and 2021-2025 Action Plan and the NWT Climate Change Strategic Framework and 2019-2023 Action Plan.
- Hear from NWT Climate Change Partners to inform key adaptation initiatives, including the NWT Climate Risks and Opportunities Assessment.
- Highlight successes, opportunities, challenges, and needs to advance water stewardship and climate adaptation in the NWT.
- Provide a venue for NWT Water and Climate Partners to share, network, and build partnerships with one another to advance collective resilience.
Agenda
The first day and a half (all-day of the 25th and morning of the 26th) will focus on the on-going implementation of the NWT Water Stewardship Strategy and highlight water adaptation initiatives undertaken by Water Partners, including the development of the Great Slave Lake Monitoring Program.
