A key commitment of the Action Plan was to undertake an independent evaluation near the end of its five-year period in order to:
- Assess the effectiveness and success of Action Plan implementation
- Identify ongoing and emerging challenges in advancing the Strategy’s vision and goals
- Provide recommendations to inform the next Action Plan, building on the achievements of the current one.
To carry out this work, the Government of the Northwest Territories contracted MNP, an independent firm that completed the evaluation following a series of engagements with NWT water partners, with support and guidance from an evaluation committee.
MNP presented key findings and recommendations to water partners on September 16, 2025. A high-level summary was also shared during the 16th Annual Water Stewardship Strategy Implementation Workshop. You can access the presentation below:
