This picture was taken during Labour Day weekend out at River Lake, which is part of the Cameron River System. I've spent many hours on the water in that area, swimming and paddling. The water enables me to explore, be active and have fun. People have used waterways to travel for centuries, both in the winter and the summer. These two pictures show my connection to water, because for me, being on and around the water makes me happy, calm, and they remind me to be thankful for the clean and beautiful land to which I have access. - Ella Kokelj, Yellowknife
