Slave Watershed Environmental Effects Program (SWEEP)

The Slave Watershed Environmental Effects Program (SWEEP) is a community-based monitoring program developed in close partnership with the Slave River Delta Partnership (SRDP) and local communities. The intent of the program is to empower communities to assess water quality and quantity impacts in the Slave River Delta, monitor future changes, and collect information that can inform management decisions.

The SWEEP project is rooted in a community-based participatory research approach where community members and researchers work together to design, conduct and communicate the research and associated results. A system of environmental indicators that incorporate both western science and Traditional Knowledge is being used to address key concerns and priorities in the watershed.
